Organic / Natural search results vs Sponsored advertisements

Google's search results

  • The organic search results (natural search results) occupy the largest part of the search results pages. They are distinguisable from the sponsored links by among other things the white background on which they are displayed. Sponsored links (advertisements) will contrarily to the organic search results always be displayed on a coloured background.
    By default, Google and most other search engines will display 10 organic search results per page. These will be displayed below the coloured sponsored advertisments should there be any advertisers who have purchased advertisements that will be displayed for the same or similar search keywords that you've entered to find a product or service.

  • Sponsored Advertisements are available in the different search engines such as in Google's AdWords advertising program. Sponsored links (advertisements) are displayed at the top and right hand side of the page and are distinguisable by their slightly coloured background.
    With Google Adwords you write your own advertisements or let us write them for you, then select the keywords for which your advertisement should be displayed when searchers consult a search engine and then choose a certain maximum price that each click should cost when someone clicks your ad. The higher your maximum price per click, the more likely you'll gain better advertising space and thus reach more visitors to your site.
